Notes
General:
Samuel Clabaugh was born between 1770 and 1780, based on the census. Betty Harrell in The Clabaughs says that he was probably the eldest son and named for his grandfather Samuel Ferguson.

Elizabeth is in the sequence William Cleaubeaugh, 2x, Charles Claubough, Elizabeth Claubeaugh. Charles is Elizabeth's son. Juda, Elizabeth, Sarah, and Nancy are Elizabeth's unmarried daughters, but it is not clear who Louisa is. She is too young to be another daughter. William is Elizabeth's brother-in-law.
LAND in SEVIER CO., TENNESSEE:
Based on the census Samuel Clabaugh died between 1840 and 1850. He left a will. It was destroyed in the 1856 courthouse fire, but we have deed records from 1845 onward, and those records give us a partial indication of the contents of the will. Samuel Clabaugh devised a tract of 109 acres in Sevier Co. to his three sons John, Charles, and Richard after the death of their mother. In the 1850 census Samuel's widow Elizabeth is living in Sevier Co. with her four unmarried daughters, presumably on the family farm.
On September 21, 1855 Charles Clabough sells to Richard H. Clabaugh for $90 his interest in a tract of land containing by estimation 109 acres in the 4th Civil District of Sevier Co., "which undivided interest descended to me by the last will and testament of Samuel Clabough, dec'd". The tract is described by metes and bounds. The deed is signed Charles (his + mark) Clabough, and the witness is Jacob Huber. (Sevier Co., Tennessee deed records, Book J, page 265, image 412/626)
In November 1855 John Clabough sells to Juda Clabough for $50 his interest in the same tract, "which undivided interest descended to me by the last will and testament of Samuel Clabough, dec'd". The tract is described by metes and bounds, the deed is signed John Clabough, and the witness is Samuel Chance. (Book J, page 277, image 418/626)
Presumably Elizabeth Clabough, widow of Samuel Clabough, died between 1850 and September 1855.
On January 11, 1858 Richard H. Clabaugh sells to Juda Clabaugh, Elizabeth Clabaugh, Sally Clabaugh, and Nancy Ann Clabaugh for $150 two undivided interests in a tract of land in the 4th Civil District of Sevier Co. containing 109 acres, be the same more or less, "it being the tract of land that Samuel Clabaugh Dec'd bequeathed to his heirs". The deed is signed R. H. Clabaugh, and one of the witnesses is Jacob Huber. (Book K, page 150, image 95/704)
