Notes
General:

PRESENCE in PRINCE GEORGE CO., VIRGINIA:

William Rees/Reese appears in public records for the first time in 1711.

Davis R. Reese in "Hugh Rees" (2005, unpublished) mentions a deed of 9 Feb 1711 from Edmund Goodrich to William Rees, and he says that William witnessed a will on 11 Feb 1715/6. Both documents in Prince George Co. I found only the first one.

Prince George County, Virginia Wills & Deeds 1710-1713 compiled by Benjamin B. Weisiger III (1992) is based on "Ledger B" containing wills, deeds, and estates for the period 9 Jan 1710/11 until 9 Feb 1713/14. This book was removed near the end of the Civil War and was recently returned to Prince George Co. by a woman in Cincinatti who agreed with her lawyer that it should be returned to Virginia.

February 10, 1711, Edward Goodrich of Prince George Co. to William Reese of the same place, £15, 50 acres in Westover Parish bounded by Coopers Spring Bottom and the Old Town. Witnesses: Wm. Harrison, Tho. Harrison, Phi. Burrow. (page 101)

The following 3 items are from Prince George Co. Court Records at FamilySearch, "County Court order book 1714-1720", film #7895942. They are abstracted in Prince George Order Book 1714/15-1720/21 copiled by Wesley E. Pippenger.

On August 12, 1718 at a court held for Prince George Co. at Merchantshope, Daniel Higdon, Jos. Carter, Wm. Reese, and Richard Rees or any 3 of them are ordered to appraise the estate of Nicholas Whittmore, Senr, dec'd, and make a report at the next court. (page 202, image 104/359)

On April 14, 1719 Richard Pace, Thomas Kirkland, Peter Grammer, and William Reese or any 3 of them are ordered to appraise the estate of Phillip Dean, dec'd. (page 256, image 131/359)

On September 8, 1719 at a court held at Merchantshope for Prince George Co., an inventory and appraisement prepared by Richard Pace, Thos Kirkland, and William Reess was presented and recorded.

LAND in VIRGINIA:

On March 23, 1725/6 a tract of 326 acres on Namozine Creek in Amelia Co. was surveyed for William Reese. Twelve years later, after his death, the tract was granted to William's sons William and Roger. Amelia Co. was created in about 1735 from parts of Prince George Co. and Brunswick Co. Namozine Creek is the boundary between modern Amelia Co. and modern Dinwiddie Co. This tract is relatively close to the White Oak Creek/Swamp area of modern Dinwiddie Co.

DEATH:

William died between 1726 and 1738.

POSSIBLE REFERENCE:

The following land grant in Gloucester Co. might refer to this William Reese, but probably not. It is too early relative to other dates.
